The
Organizing Committee for "The Enkidu Summer Conference 2008:
Storytelling, Memories and Identity Constructions" to be held for
the fifth time in Mexico City between the 3 and 7 of July 2008 is
seeking further panelists for a special session/"sub-conference" dedicated to
Francis Bacon (1561-1626) and his writing,
that will take place during the Conference.
Students
of Bacon, creative writing and the history of early-modern literature
and ideas are most welcome to participate.
This
session has the title "Creative Writing and the Legacies of Francis
Bacon" will consist of a total
of four panels, each with 3 or 4 presentations. New interpretations of
Creative Writing and The Life and Legacies of Francis Bacon ranging from the predictable to the
surprising are encouraged.
This
is the first academic conference dedicated to Francis Bacon and his
writing to be held in Mexico ever and the Committee is open for creative
interpretations and re-interpretations of the theme of the
session.
Selected papers from the Conference will be
published as part of an edited volume with Spanish and English articles.
If you would like your paper to be considered for publication, please
submit your full conference paper (a draft for pre-selection - a final
version should be submitted after the conference) by 15. June, 2008.
We
welcome submissions from all branches of the social sciences,
humanities, as well as the arts. Graduate students are encouraged to
participate. Papers will be considered on related themes and topics from
a wide range of perspectives. Presenters are encouraged to interpret the
themes of the conference broadly. Interdisciplinary perspectives are
especially welcome.
500 word abstracts should be submitted to the
Organizing Committee in English, Castilian, German or French by 15 April 2008. The
conference languages will be English and Castilian.

Paper and panel proposals

Papers
should be of approximately 20 - 30 minutes duration (circa 8 - 10
pages). Other forms of presentation, for instance workshops, panel
debates and poster sessions will be considered on request.

Proposals for panel sessions
Typically,
a panel of academic papers should include 3 (maximum 4) speakers and 1
moderator (session chair). Each session will last for 2 hours allowing
for 30 minutes for each speaker and a further 30 minutes for questions
and discussion.
Proposers
should submit:

Session title and a session intro (ca 100 words),

Paper titles,
(3)
Abstracts for each paper (500 words),
(4)
Short biography for each participant and the panel chair (ca 100-150
words),
(5)
Institutional affiliation and address for each participant,
(6)
Audio-visual and other technical requirements.
